Free Stuff

•Match and Stick
Skill Application: Tactile discrimination (Matching braille shapes)
Object: To correctly match braille shapes
Materials:

  • Bathtub appliqués or other cut outs
  • Mat board
  • Velcro
  • Sets of dissimilar braille shapes brailled on clear labels. Place one set of labels on half of the appliqués and the other set on the other half.
  • Equally place the desired amount of Velcro squares on the left and right of the mat board
  • Place Velcro on the backs of the appliqués

To Play:
Place one set of the appliqués on the left side of the mat board. Have the student find the appliqué in the top row. Using a non-slip pad, have the student choose between two appliqués the one that matches, and place it on the Velcro square next to it. Repeat with remaining rows.

*(By using Velcro, the shapes can be changed for variety or as his ability to discriminate increases.)
