• Catch the Dropped Contraction
Skill Application: Lower cell part word contractions
Objective: To be able to recognize and read words with lower cell part word contractions.

Materials:

  • Worksheet with pairs of words, one with a lower cell part word contraction and one without (e.g. meat and mat)
  • Small corkboard and pushpins

To Play:

  • Have the student secure the worksheet to the corkboard using pushpins.
  • Tell the student that there are two words on each line. One word contains a “dropped” contraction and one does not.
